
Jimmy George | One of the ten best volleyball players in the world
Jimmy George was an Indian volleyball player who is considered one of the ten best volleyball players in the world. He was born on March 8, 1955, in Peravoor, Kerala, India, and died in an accident on November 30, 1987, at the age of 32.
George was a left-handed spiker and an excellent blocker, and he was known for his incredible jumping ability. He played for the Indian national team and was instrumental in helping India win the bronze medal at the 1986 Asian Games held in Seoul, South Korea.
Jimmy George was also the first Indian volleyball player to play professionally in Europe. He played for several Italian clubs, including Lube Macerata, Pallavolo Parma, and Santal Parma, and was considered one of the best foreign players in the Italian league.
George’s career was cut short when he died in a car accident in Italy in 1987. However, his legacy lives on, and he is still considered one of the greatest volleyball players in the world. In 2015, he was posthumously inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoke, Massachusetts, USA.
