Prithviraj Chauhan great archer
Prithviraj Chauhan was a great archer. He was a renowned king and warrior who ruled over the northwestern regions of India in the 12th century. He was considered as one of the most skilled archers of his time and his expertise with the bow and arrow was renowned.
According to historical accounts, Prithviraj Chauhan was trained in archery by his guru, Chand Bardai, who also wrote the epic poem “Prithviraj Raso” about his life. It is said that Prithviraj Chauhan was so skilled in archery that he could shoot an arrow from his bow and split another arrow already in the air, a feat known as “teer-andaz” in Hindi.
Prithviraj Chauhan’s prowess as an archer was put to use in battles and he is known to have defeated many of his enemies with his archery skills. In fact, it is said that his archery skills played a key role in his victory over Muhammad Ghori, the invader from Central Asia who had tried to conquer India multiple times.
