Combustion reactions occur when a substance reacts with oxygen, producing energy in the form of heat and light. For example, when gasoline is burned in a car engine, it reacts with oxygen to produce carbon dioxide and water vapor, releasing energy in the process.
Chemical Equations: Chemical equations are shorthand representations of chemical reactions. They use chemical symbols and formulas to represent the reactants and products involved in a reaction. A chemical equation must be balanced, meaning that the number of atoms of each element on the left side of the equation must be equal to the number of atoms of that element on the right side of the equation.
